Florin Kompatscher (born 1960 in Bolzano, Italy) is a painter living and working in Berlin. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Carl Unger and Adolf Frohner, and spent extended periods working in Rome, Madrid, and Paris.
Kompatscher’s oeuvre moves between gestural abstraction, surreal visual worlds, and expansive painterly interventions in space. His work has been exhibited internationally, p.e. Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, Museion in Bolzano, IT; Forum Kunst Rottweil, GER; Kunstverein Offenburg, GER; Galaxy Museum of Contemporary Art in Chongqing, CHN; and Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, AT. Since 1986, Florin Kompatscher has been represented by Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman. |
