Mona Schulzek’s artistic practice arises from a profound fascination with outer space as well as with human and non-human life forms. Her focus lies less on the physical cosmos itself than on our projections, fears, and longings. Schulzek considers the earthly perspective on space to be crucial for how we perceive and understand existence. The aim of her work is to explore the tension between lived alienation and actual connectedness, and to question and influence our view of the universe—and thus of ourselves.
Mona Schulzek, born in 1992 in Germany, completed her studies at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2023. In the same year, she was awarded the prestigious art prize junger westen. In 2024, she held a solo exhibition at the project space of Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman in Vienna. |
