“The Wildcats Diner”

 MARIO MAURONER CONTEMPORARY ART
 03.06. - 30.06.2006

After his marvellous exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in the year 2004, we are pleased to show works of Barthélémy Toguo (* 1967 in Cameroon) for the first time in Austria.
Barthélémy Toguo’s art is motivated by socio-political issues, focussing on themes of migration, location and identity.  Using most media – drawing, photography, performance, sculpture and video – the artist brings to the fore social inequalities and questions prevailing sentiments. “By looking at our contemporary society, I feel like being a stream of water of sorts, being the wind, being a migrating bird, being here and there. To eat a baguette, to dance Samba, to climb up the Alps, in brief to leave, leave, leave.” (Barthélémy Toguo)
